Statement of Purpose
The Temple of Aphrodite encourages the growth and well-being of Aphrodisian worship by:
- promoting dialogue and cooperation among individuals, groups and organizations of paths related to Aphrodite, Venus and other Goddesses of love, beauty and sexuality through various projects and forums.
- providing contacts to Temple members through publications, correspondence, the Internet, e-mail, and telephone.
- publishing the annual Golden Rose Journal.
- publishing and distributing books, CDs, DVDs and other resources for spiritual development and practice via Asteria Books and other outlets.
- promoting the creation and sharing of rituals, meditations, music, images, dance and other spiritual art forms.
- providing ministerial services including teaching, facilitating festivals and rituals, and conducting rites of passage such as weddings, child blessings, funerals, etc.
- presenting workshops, demonstrations and classes at gatherings and independent facilities and churches.
- sponsoring Aphrodisian priest/ess training through the Temple’s online Lykeion.
- engaging in academic research and networking.
- promoting understanding and tolerance of sex-positive spirituality in mainstream society through public education, interfaith networking and public relations media contact.
- encouraging local and regional networking, ritual and study through the Cultoi Program.
- promoting patronage of services and goods offered by Temple members through the Agora Program.
- facilitating pilgrimages to sacred sites for purposes of study, worship and multicultural exchange and understanding.
- establishing physical sacred space by buying land and building a physical temple and retreat center.
